Santa Claus Parade....well sorta

Christmas is over thank goodness. I always dread this time of year as I get very down. My Dad died xmas eve and even though 28 years have passed I can't shake the mood. Now its passed and I am ready to play again!
We left off at the Fashion Show ending. The girls decided to hit the pizza parlour for some fattening food.
Many had been dieting just to fit snugly into their new dresses, those with the rib knit outfits found they stretched nicely to accommodate the food they were eating.
As they were leaving the restaurant one of the girls called out
"Look its snowing!"
Another girl called out and the Santa Claus Parade is starting. Although the girls wanted to stay and watch it, was just too cold out for them dressed in their mini dresses and so all scurried home.
But indeed the Santa Claus parade had finally started after a very long delay. Crowds lined the streets waiting in anticipation for the first ever parade in the New Dolton! Finally they saw the familiar sight of the majorette leading the procession.
The band unfortunately was very small, many of the musicians having left growing weary and cold for the long wait for Santa.
Many remarked on this.
"Oh look the poor little majorette has dropped her baton. I bet her hands are too cold to hold it" some remarked.
"Bet she's not cold!" another Doltonite remarked, pointing to the Snow Queen. "Wasn't she in another parade?" Asked another. "I recognize that outfit" But the snow queen just waved as her horse slowly pulled her along. The accummulating snow made it a bit easier to pull the sleigh but still the horse was weary from his toil.

The crowded was growing impatient for the main figure to arrive. They looked and looked....
but no sign of him came. Finally a policeman found him....

Santa was passed out drunk. Well so much for the parade this year!

Not my doing!

Well we finally got snow! Late this year but it's almost half a foot so making up for lost snowflakes! LOL
S
Still working on my scene, having trouble finding stuff here. Clothing still not unpacked yet and many boxes are packed into oblivion! With all the rearrangements I've made down in Dolton, boxes and bins are stacked where they can fit and not in any specific order because of size. Almost everything is labelled but my pea brain just can't remember what stack items are in and so it takes hours to pull everything out and look for one item! I did however find my snowflakes! So it might snow down there yet.

I'm rather superstitious and since in the past whenever I lay down snow in Dolton, it would snow in real life. Mississauga rarely got snow at least not down where I lived so doing this ensured I would have a white Christmas, sometimes. Anyway, we went away yesterday  to visit Jack's brother and I did not want to be driving home in a snow storm. As it was we got a bit of a blizzard for the first part of our journey but once we turned onto the highway heading south, that stopped! Whew!
So now that we don't have anymore trips planned for the rest of the year, let it snow baby!
With the mild day, Jack put the xmas lights up on the house.
Meanwhile in Dolton, some of you may remember this picture from a long time ago 2002 actually. Here is the city workers bringing in the big xmas tree for downtown Dolton. I still have this 3 foot high tree and will be erecting it tonight in the New Dolton.

WOW! Two posts in one day LOL
Here's Santa making popcorn while he waits for snow. He complained running his sled on the pavement would damage the rungs. I agree of course, but what can I do? (comment here-bleeped)
Meanwhile back at the fashion show...Here's a group of gals all wearing their micro mini dresses. I'll take a separate pic of the girls in the back later as I realize you can't really see them.
This gal, Laurie (teen skipper doll) is wearing the micro mini as a top. Must have been anxious to get it done cos when I cast off it was waaaaaaaaaay too short. As it turns out Laurie had this knit skirt on and so a match was born!

And finally here is Hope wearing a longer version of this dress. The black around the drop waist is supposed to be represent a belt.

Well that should be it for today folks. There's a parade I have to set up before Santa eats me out of house and home.

Here's another gal from the fashion show. She's a basic Tyler doll that I've had for years. Her name is Toni and she is doll #66 in Lofton. Population of Lofton is a whopping 278! As a friend said to me "they come out of the woodwork Jane" ha ha I think she's right. Anyway here she is wearing a knit microdress or micro mini as we used to call them

I really love making these dresses, they are quick and quite easy to do. I actually saw one on Pinterest (where else eh) and thought I could copy it. The midsection has a purl on the knit row every so many stitches. I think I did it every 6th for the Tylers and every 4th for Barbie.
In the fashion show Toni wore this shawl I knitted as her shrug wasn't finished in time for the show.

The ends hadn't been weaved or sewn in yet so I just wrapped it around her to hold it on.
Yesterday I finally finished her shawl which is varigated black, white and gray. She is wearing black patented leather shoes which is why I made her the shrug in this colour.

The shrug is a Barbie pattern that I found on the Internet back when I first learned to knit. I just added more stitches to fit the bigger dolls. Which do you like the best on her, the shrug or the shawl? I used to do polls on this site before but not sure how to now. Next time maybe.
MEANWHILE...Santa has arrived in Dolton and he is pissed!
What no snow!!!!
Well I almost told him to 'Shuffle off to Buffalo' (old song from our parents day LOL) but kept my mouth shut. I set him up in a nice little apartment while I went and did this.... (sorry Donna)

Pic doesn't represent what is going on but I'm sure you can guess! Yep I'm making snow like they do on the ski hills. It was blowing around but the camera didn't capture that. This location is my future ski hill in New Dolton so I'm gonna need lots more. Don't worry I have TONS of batting as that is what I used to pack my dolls in when we moved here. Hmmm do the math, 3000 dolls X bags of batting. Yep think I have enough to cover the whole town!

Well it's been a few days since I last posted. Been busy setting my very first Fashion Show here in the New Dolton. It's composed of outfits I both knitted and crocheted over the past 4 years. Biggest task was finding the appropriate shoes for all the gals to wear! But I did!

Here's a few pix from the show. I am putting more pictures on my Pinterest Page under What I Made Today.
Here's the Mayor announcing the start of the Fashion Show.

I'm Back!

I can't believe I found this page! While its only been a couple of years, it turns out I had saved the url in my old desk top computer. I'd like to try and keep this forum up again. Not sure if I will have any followers but hey it sure beats talking to myself LOL
So to start, both Dolton and Lofton have grown. Lofton considerably. Dolton's population now is 2740 while Lofton has more than doubled in size and will be 278 residents with my new arrival expected next week.
Since the retirement of my husband and myself I have played quite a bit but somehow lost the interest in writing about my dolls. This has now changed and I find myself dreaming new stories about them. Albeit nothing more than info as to who's with who now. So many new residents have come to my towns that it has changed the lifestyle of the Doltonites. No new stories in Lofton I'm afraid but I am still continuing putting new dolls in families.
Another thing that has taken up a lot of my time is my new found love of knitting. I tried for over 40 years to learn unsuccessfully until 2009 when for some reason it clicked. I haven't put the needles down since! LOL
So if you want to hang out here and see what I am doing in my towns and with my not so nimble fingers anymore come on in. Bring your knitting too if you wish. Or crocheting. I haven't abandoned my love of it yet.
