Target FINALLY comes to Canada!

I'm so excited. It was announced today that Target will be here in 2013! Target is a chain store much like Walmart (only better stuff) in the U.S. They recently bought our Zellers and The Bay stores here in Canada. It's taken forever to come here though but finally it will happen. I still have my American Target credit card but will most likely have to get a new one as I have not used it in ages. Their head office in Canada will be in Mississauga! Damn I knew I shouldn't have moved!!!
We do have a Zellers store here in Cornwall (it's crappy) so I hope we will be one of the places getting a Target store. We need something else to shop in besides Walmart as there is nothing else in this town! Can you tell I am having shopping withdrawal symptoms! LOL
One of my girlfriends in the states picked up the Skinny Jeans Kens for me, all 3! I can hardly wait until they get here. Probably next month. Most stores are already sold out of them. And it doesn't look like they are coming to Canada.
I also received my Ellowyne sewing patterns that I bought off an etsy shop on ebay last week. Now I have to get my sewing room cleaned out!
As you can see the deck is rebuilt. this was taken last weekend. Since then the stairs have been added, the ground leveled and grass seed planted. It has rained for two days now and I am not complaining. I'll take more updated pictures when the weather clears up. We still have to put the railing on yet but there is no rush now. As long as everything is done for August which is when Jack's next birthday is. We plan to have  the family out here to celebrate it. He will be 72
Jack's son got our pool and man has he ever done a nice job with it. He repainted all the sides, inserted a new liner and has almost finished the deck and railing around it. He lives in the country so has lots of room for this.

Next week Jack goes to the Heart Institute in Ottawa for an angiogram to see if they can find what the heart problem is. I still don't believe it's his heart that is the problem for him. He has no symptoms at all, no pain, nothing. Only shortness of breath and I think that is most likely COPD. He goes for that test next week also. Fortunately my sister lives near this hospital so I can stay with her overnight, saving me either driving back and forth to Ottawa or having to stay in a hotel.

Busy in the Yard

Well the pool is gone, took 3 weekends of work to disassemble it. Today we rented a commercial roto tiller and turned the whole yard. Now we are raking all the excess soil into the hole. After all is done we may only need one load of top soil.  I've also been busy cleaning up the front garden, ridding it of weeds, overgrown grass and many tree stumps. I have some cool weather pansies planted for colour but it's still too cold here for any other flowers yet.  My lilac trees are budding. I was hoping they would be in bloom for my birthday that won't be the case.
Here's the shell of the pool, which was taken apart and away last week. It looked more like a rodeo ring.

This is my new fir tree that I bought for the back yard. It's not quite 4 feet tall. It's a silver spruce.

Well heres the yard with the pool gone and land tilled. As you can see the deck is gone too. Turns out there wasn't much support under it so it's just as well we had to take it apart to get to the pool. The stairs will go down to the yard from the middle of the deck just like the deck in Mississauga. We are also going to make the deck longer so that it goes almost to the end of the house.  The green along the fence still has to be cleaned up and that is where my dahlias will be planted. I can hardly wait to get them in.

Soon it will be level. Hard to believe there was a 20 feet round pool there! My tree will have to be moved because now that the decidious tree to the left of it is blooming I can see when the fir grows they will touch each other. Best to move it now.

I left the bush in front of the steps as I don't know yet what it is. We put solar lights in the garden. I have removed all the rotten wood frame that was there and am putting used brick in for this year. Next year it will all be done in stone. From the end of the porch to the end of the brick wall was all grass, weeds and tree stumps. I have got most of it cleaned out and will put impatients there as it is mostly shady except for the morning.
Where the coloured flowers are in the lawn I planted a juniper bush in each spot. The flowers (Rununculus) will only bloom this year.  To the left is the lilac tree that was already here. The other patch in the middle has a rose bush that was already here. I have planted some dahlia bulbs around it. Already I have my trademark painted tomato cages around the bulbs. Funny but last week at Home Depot I saw painted tomato cages in hot pink, marine blue and lime green. Someone must have seen mine and got the idea to sell them that way! I've been painting mine for 20 years now. Guess I should have patented the idea eh! LOL
Dolton is coming along too. With all the rainy days we've had I've been able to spend my time down here. I can walk from end to end now and it is all clear. Yes there are still many boxes left to unpack but they are all out of my way so soon I will be able to set up scenes again.
So everything is coming together finally.

All these photos were taken with my new camera that I won from the Heart and Stroke Lottery. It has taken some getting used to using as it has no view finder just a big screen. My last digital camera had a view finder where you put it right up to your eye and look through it like a normal camera. But this takes some getting used to. I don't have very steady hands so holding the damn thing at arms length to see what you want to take a picture of is stupid in my opinion. I guess that's progress for you! My old camera sat in a cradle and was charged up all the time. These new ones only run on batteries.  And let me tell you the batteries don't last long. Bad for the environment too. Okay so I could spend a lot of money and buy rechargable batteries. Another cash grab! I think that is what I shall have to do. Cos soon as Dolton is set up I want to be taking a lot more pix. I just hope I'm used to this camera by then.
Have a great rest of the weekend everybody. It's time for some lemon merangue pie!
