Same Day Part 2

Well I forgot to add that our vet sent us a very nice sympathy card which we got in the mail. It had a lovely poem which of course made us both cry when we read it. Get a tissue everyone it's a tearjerker!
If it should be that I grow frail and weak. And pain should keep me from my sleep. Then will you do what must be done for this.  The last battle cannot be won. You will be sad I understand, but don't let grief then stain your hand. For on this day, more than the rest your love and friendship must stand the test. We have had so many happy years you wouldn't want me to suffer so. When the time comes, please, let me go.Take me where my needs they'll tend, only, stay with me until the end. Hold me firm and speak to me, until my eyes no longer see. I know in time you will agree, it is a kindness you do to me. Although my tail no longer waves, from pain and suffering I have been saved. Don't grieve that it must be you who has to decide this thing to do. We've been so close, we two, these years, don't let your heart hold any tears.
And then this personal note
Our pets enrich our lives with their unconditional love and loyalty. Their loss creates an emptiness. May memories bring a quick smile to your faces and warmth into your heart. We understand and share the sorrow you are feeling. Please accept our deepest sympathy.
It was signed by the vet and his staff.
Wasn't that nice? If this was paper it would be soggy now.

New Residents

Yesterday I was at Walmart. Only place in town to shop really. Our Zellers store has little to chose from  in toys and Sears even less! Actually I think Walmart is really the only store in town where anyone shops. There is always line ups at the cash registers and the parking lot is always full. I wonder what will happen if Target ever gets here.
Anyway the boy on the left, Owen Moxie is what I bought yesterday. The guy on the right is Dylan Bratz. I bought him last Saturday when we went to Ottawa and I got to go to TRU! Both dolls were on sale.
The Moxie boyz are exactly the same as the Bratz boyz. Still like all my other dolls, there is never enough males to go around! I haven't named this one yet but the Bratz guy I named George cos he reminds me of George Strombolopoulos. Unless you are Canadian you probably don't know him. He has a late night talk show here in Canada. When we lived in Mississauga we actually got to go to a taping of this show and got to meet George too. Nice guy! He has done shows over in Britain and Ireland as well. So if he goes back there be sure and tune in to him. Last week he was in Pakinstan. That show will be televised later this week I believe.
Yesterday we had a our first b-b-que since moving to Cornwall. Jack bought himself a brand new one. It's his part of the anniversary gift which will be coming up in April. For sure I will get a doll, probably a Tonner one. There's a few on my wish list so we will see which one I order. Tonner has been having a lot of sales of late but nothing that I want has been marked down.
For those of you who have been wondering where I've been these last 6 months, I have joined two British Forums. I have met a great bunch of gals over there and have cultivated some good friendships too. It's interesting to see what dolls they like. The Ellowynes are a big hit with the ladies. And of course the Sindy doll which originated there. When I was a child my mother bought a Sindy for me. She was British and went overseas every couple of years to visit her family. I wish I still had my childhood dolls. Many of them I can get today in reproductions but not my Sindy. Or the wonderful clothing that my older sister made for me. She was a professional seamstress and sewed some lovely outfits for my dolls. She made quite a few wedding gowns for clients over the years and left over fabric was used to make a wonderful wedding gown for my dolls. I can still remember the feel of the real satin fabric.  My dolls got married a lot just to wear that dress. I wonder what lucky girl has it now.
It's a gloomy day out there and very cold with the bitter winds that just won't die down. Well at least we didn't get the snow that SOUTH western Ontario got! 3 inches!!! I sure hope it doesn't come here. I may like winter but I am fed up with it now. After living in Mississauga where we only had winter for a week, I am tired of it.
I'm tackling yet another area in Dolton.  Actually I am taking apart a book shelf that was badly damaged in the Dolton flood 3 years ago. Since most furniture today is made from partical board, this one rotted quite a bit. Jack is going to cut the bad ends of it and I shall use it for shelving. I already have spots for it, as there will be of course 2 long pieces. Maybe 4-5 feet long each. That should hold quite a few dolls I think.  I shall have to wait until tomorrow though to get them put up as Jack is installing eavestrophing around his garage. Many homes and garages here in Cornwall don't have this item on their roofs and I wonder why. We have a large overhang of roof around our house but not so the garage and Jack has had plenty of water in his garage as a result. He plans to build a workshop in the garage and fortunately he didn't get it started last fall as all the wood would have been rotten from the water.
Anway that's about all I have to say for today. Talk to you tomorrow.

Real Blue Sky

One thing we have noticed here is the real blue sky. No smog!!! We haven't seen sky like this in many many years. And at night we can see the stars! Okay maybe for some of you it's not a big deal, but coming from the most polluted area in Canada, we sure notice it.
Squirt has become quite a talkative cat now. I can hear her squawking to Jack upstairs. Sounds they are having quite a conversation. She has a very high pitched voice compared to Mandy and Erika, who of course were actually males but that's another story.  When Squirt was a kitten it sounded more like singing than meowing but as she gets older her squeak is becoming less pitched.
It's finally starting to warm up a bit here. Still the nights are cold. But we don't feel it in this house. It's such a cosy place. Although the floor in Dolton gets quite cold as it is bare (painted) cement. And with all the stuff I still have on it, there isn't much circulation. That is slowly getting remedied.
The bedroom that is in the basement is up one step and has a plywood floor. It is the step that I tripped over which sent me to my fall 4 months ago. It's only about 3 inches up but it was a killer! Anyway this is the room where my computer is situated although that may change. Jack has installed plenty of shelving in here for me. Two walls have shelves suspended about 14" from the ceiling. These shelves house some of my NFRB dolls, with Doltonites in front of course. Underneath is the 3/4 bed that I had in Dolton Heights in the last house. Although it's covered with wool right now LOL Yep still crocheting like crazy. I'm making 6 afghans at once. I take a skein of wool and make a square for each afghan. That way I know which colours I have used. I figure I have a skein of wool for every doll I own. And I'm not exagerating here!

On Monday Jack installed some shelving for me on the wall behind where I sit. There is a window there that looks into our laneway. Not much light comes in the room because we have a carport that runs the full length of the house. It is a great thing as when it's raining or snowing you can drive under it to unload groceries and not get wet. It holds both my van and Jack's car end to end completely.

Well I guess I should get my day started. We've been up for about 3 hours now but we sit and chat while eating, and read whatever mail we get. Not much these days, which is fine with me. Although my Mary Maxim catalogue came in and well I've found a few things I would like to order from it. One is a canvas doll house. Now I don't think it will be tall enough for Barbie, but maybe the Bratz. Anyway it's on sale so I'm thinking I will order it. Once I have the plans I can always enlarge them to make fit Barbie or maybe Tiny Kitty. Will let you know how that goes. I have always wanted to get into plastic canvas and have been collecting patterns over the years that I ordered from Annie's Attic. I just never took the time to learn this craft. MM has an online video to teach you how to stitch the plastic canvas. I have bought plastic canvas furniture in the past at flea markets. It's very durable and has lasted me over 20 years of doll play.
Like I said above I better get off my butt. But I always find something else to chat about. Those who know me, know that I am a very talkative person. Especially when it comes to my dolls *grin* See what I mean. Okay I'm signing off now. Talk at you tomorrow.

I'm Back!

Oh it took me awhile to find this site. Turns out I did have it in my favs! Duh! Much has happened over this long winter. Which really wasn't as bad here as we expected. Just long like I already said. Toronto and the Mississauga area got it bad this year *evil grin* and it's bitterly cold everywhere. No sign of any buds of flowers showing here. By now in Mississauga I would have tulips popping up along my laneway. Sometimes I miss it there as things here went bad very quickly.
First I fell (on a cement floor) and damaged my foot and ankle really bad. It's still sore and I fear arthritis will be my companion in the future as a result of this. Jack lost his aunt who was also his Godmother, shortly after Xmas. Then Erika got sick (our cat). Her brother Mandy died a week before we moved. Erika went down hill rather fast and no amount of medication could help her. She passed yesterday.
Our new kitten who is a year old now is the now the one and only and will be spoilt to the hilt too.
Jack was diagnosed with diabetes. We are still new to this. He is taking Metformin and monitoring his glucose levels twice a day until we can get to see the specialist in two months. There is a severe shortage of doctors in this town. But the ones we have seen, seem to be pretty good. Not like the idiots we had in Mississauga!  Also in two weeks Jack finally gets his cataract surgery done. We waited 3 months to see the specialist and now it is another 3 months til the operation. Now we are counting the weeks. Again there is only one eye specialist here in Cornwall.
We have been to Ottawa at least once a month to see the family and other events. A couple of weeks ago we went to a hockey game (JR) and ironically it was Ottawa against Mississauga! In all the years we lived in Mississauga we never saw our junior team play, we move here and well I guess it was fate. Oh and Mississauga won!
I am still unpacking and arranging and rearranging and rearranging and yes still rearranging Dolton. All the residents are out and sitting where ever there is a spot for them. The Old Dolton took years to grow to this size but here I am trying to fit it all in at once. I'm getting there though.
While we do like it here, it has taken time to adjust. Everything is walking distance (for me) and a few days ago I found a neat bicycle path that runs east to west and probably goes from one end of town to the other. This area is so much like our neighbourhood in Mississauga it's uncanny. But I think I am trying too hard to replicate the past. I need to start fresh and once I realized that, I figured out that is what has been holding me back. So with spring (hopefully) just around the corner (it ain't here yet) I go forth with a keen spirit to see what lies ahead.
