At last the cupboards are in!

I can't begin to tell you how happy and relieved I am that the counter is finally installed. Along with the sink too. This morning I hand washed every dish I could find just to try out my sink LOL I'm sure that fad will end soon!

Jack spent yesterday connecting the plumbing for the sink and reinstalling the dishwasher, which he wired in permanently.
You may think these pictures were taken at high noon but you would be wrong. The sun has almost set here but there are heavy clouds about, yet the kitchen is still bright as if the sun was shining. How can this be? We did buy a light fixture for inside the solar tube. It called for a 60 watt bulb but boy that was too strong, so we have a 40 watt inside the tube. The reason it is so darn bright is the glass on the solar tube is a 4 sided prism, hence the glaring light. Yes it does look a bit harsh but at least you can see what you are doing. And this picture was taken without a flash!

Here's the corner section. As you can see I have plenty of counter room. Beside this pic is the old kitchen. Ugh! The old counter ended at the coffee pot (lower pic). The sink was in the middle and it was only a single sink. The dishwasher was a portable and sat under the window where the new (double) sink is now.
The toaster is almost in it's same spot. I will put the blender and milk shake maker in the corner at the back (new kitchen) as they will be out of the way and can be pulled forward when in use. You can also see the dishwasher underneath. To the left of the dishwasher is a corner cupboard. Man I have a lot of room in there for stuff. Okay food LOL

So as you can see there is a big difference! And all the items on top of the old cupboards now have a place to be put away and not seen. Here too you can see our old back splace that I wish we could find.

We still have to paint another coat on the walls, which is why my curtains aren't up yet in the window. And we are still looking for the backsplash to put between the counter and the upper cupboards. Can't find one we like. And I don't want tile! The original backsplash we had would have matched perfectly but you can't find it anymore, it was 15 years old. And we "had" to remove it for the cupboards to be installed. Now I am sure the cupboards could have been installed anyway but again, another bone of contention with HD in that regard!

Anyway no more bickering. I am pleased as punch with my new kitchen. Now for the basement.....well see you in 6 months ha ha ha!

Last night, as most of you know was my last shift at the lottery booth. It was busy as usual cos the friggin' jackpot is 26 million dollars! Give me a break! Anyway I had mixed feelings about leaving as I did like the job for the most part. Today I returned my cleaned uniform tops. Man I couldn't even find a parking spot at this mall! Hah one of the reasons I am glad I am not returning there. It is, I think the 3rd largest mall in Canada!
On my way home I decided to pop into Fabricland, it's a chain store that sells fabrics (obviously). So I renewed my membership (you get big discounts with it) for 3 years and proceeded to shop. As some of you know my fabric accummulation is one of my weaknesses! I actually hit 2 Fabriclands as I was looking for Halloween material. Now I just have to settle myself down and sew.

Since my original Halloween scene cannot be set up, I have decided on an alternate one which I will hopefully do up in Venus (AKA my dining room). Don't get too excited now as it will only be a dance. All my props are buried deep in Dolton and I am not buying more for upstairs. Hence the sewing! Anyway stay tuned it's playtime!

Oh and I almost forgot, a ton of sweaters arrived today from ebay. I'm a gonna be a busy gal!
