Packing, packing and more packing

Despite the fact that the majority of the stuff from this house is already packed in two 20' pods, I still have a lot to pack. Dishes, cookware, clothing, shoes, did I mention I have a shoe fetish? There must be 50 pairs here. I got really firm with myself and threw out 'two' pairs and put 5 pairs in the bag for Value Village. Okay so now we are down to 43 pairs of shoes. Maybe less. I think I got rid of all my Candi sandals before the summer. I just can't wear them anymore. Over the years I did scale down to lower heels and not the almost stilettos of the past. Being short I had a lot of tall shoes LOL These days anything over 3" is a bit risky for me. So many of my shoes are almost new, having so many they never get worn out.

Did I tell you about Mandy? She is one of my cats. The fat one. When we came home last weekend we noticed she wasn't well. Turns out she couldn't pee anymore. So off the emergency vet hospital where we spent 4 hours waiting for them to drain her. Well Mandy is actually a him but since he was given to us by our granddaughter, we named him Mandy after her. And they were so young the penis had not developed yet and we didn't realize until a month or so later that it was a he. Same with his brother Erika. But we had them both neutered and only the vet really knew the difference. Now he has some kind of blockage that is preventing him from peeing. After a week of drugs, he now leaks everywhere. Oh thank goodness the house is sold. Could you imagine having house showings with this going on!!!  I would have been beside myself. Anyway I am thinking that he has totally lost control of his bladder. Of course the vets keep urging us to keep on giving him the drugs and hope for the best. But they and I know it's a losing situation. He would not survive the 6 hour trip to our new home. And I definately don't want this to continue there. So far the other cats are good but if they keep smelling pee all over the place it may make them unsanitary too. I hate to put an animal down unless they are actually near death but what can we do?

On the bright side, two weeks today we get the keys to the new house. I am getting more excited by the day. Although I must say I am glad to have had one last summer here. Our yard is so pleasant it's like being in the country. The neighbours drive 5 hours to their cottage for this and I just walk out my back door. I will truly miss it. Our yard at the next house is almost as big but it is surrounded on 3 sides by neighbours. Who knows if we will get along and how noisy they are. I myself have a loud voice and we often like to have our music loud. So we may find ourselves in trouble too. We could have bought something out of town but we didn't want to be on septic tank and away from bus service. Jack is 71 now and although he is healthy today, who knows what the years may bring.  I can walk to all the amenities in town. It's a big farther than the walk I have now but that is okay. And if the weather is bad then I just hop a bus. Yeah I still have my van and Jack has his car but I always look forward to walking to the grocery store each day. I have no idea what to make for meals when I get up in the mornings so my walk to the plaza to browse around is a nice way of getting me out and helping along with my meal choices. Of course in England they do this kind of shopping all the time. If I have to pick up kitty litter or big stuff then of course I will take a vehicle. And when we drive to Ottawa to visit the kids you can be sure I will hit the stores that aren't in my town. Especially TRU!
Not that I need anymore dolls but....
BTW have you seen the Barbie size Victoria and Alice Cullen? I think I mentioned yesterday that I wanted to get them. I haven't had any luck with the lottery this week so we can wait until I do. With all the cat/vet expenses, the c/c card is really running up a tab. And we have been eating out a lot. Oh things will calm down once we move. I hope....until I get bored. LOL

It really cools down here now at night. Fall is definately with us. All those hurricanes have sent us lots of rain too, which cools down the lakes and makes the air cooler also. Living near or by the Great Lakes (Ontario) really affects your weather. That is why we are cooler in the summer and milder in the winter. It will be a different story living near the St. Lawrence. We will get a good dose of winter. Our snowblower will have it's tongue hanging out for sure. We always kept our winter boots and warmer coats for when we visited Ottawa in the winter. Now they will get worn much more often.
Well I'm rambling here, not much to talk about really. I just needed a break from packing. T.G.I.F. everybody.
