Today's picture is of Jaime's kitty Mitzi catnapping a stuffed Halloween kitty---it is wearing an orange hat and mask. She has also taken to stealing socks and the other night she was carrying a stuffed penguin through the house that was as big as she. Jane-- she has also been stealing a pink chair you sent...we finally had to move the chair to another room. Our weather has been brutal the past couple of days---we have had one hour of above freezing temperatures since New Year's night. It is supposed to only go as low as the mid twenties tonight---I have kept the kerosene heater on for the past couple of nights and slept in the living room either on the love seat or the floor--I am getting too old to sleep on a cold floor as my bones ache but I am afraid not to stay near the heater just in case it goes nuts---we have never had any problems but I like to be safe. This next Wednesday will be Meg's sixteenth birthday---Jaime has went a little overboard on presents but she sort of looks at Meg as her own ---I told Meg at least I wasn't going to make her bake her own birthday cake---when I turned sixteen my mom was working and one of my girl friends came home with me and helped me make my own cake. That was the last year I bothered with a cake for me---and that has been a long time. I wanted to get some stuff put up this week in the playhouse but it has been way too cold to even go up there. I hope next week is warmer.

Yvonne, you poor dear! I know how brutal the cold has been. We have had similar temps here and have all been huddled around the Dearborn in the living room nights, too. We are getting a respite from the bitter temps for the weekend; I know that it will help next month's gas and electric bills a bit. We have had to have the Dearborn and the built-in gas heater in my office/playroom on non-stop for the past several days and even the electric radiator in the bedroom on the worst days. We still don't have our winterc clothes here yet, but we may be able to get all our stored stuff next month. Wish us lick.
